Heavy rainfall expected across Northwest B.C.

Heavy rainfall is expected across parts of Northwest B.C. through early Tuesday morning.

Environment Canada says up to 120 millimetres of rain could fall over coastal sections of the North Coast, south of Prince Rupert.

Between Kitimat and Terrace, rainfall amounts of 60 to 80 millimetres are expected.

A frontal system moving across the B.C. North Coast is bringing the heavy rainfall to the region. The system is expected to weaken Tuesday morning, with rain gradually tapering off.

Residents are being warned that water could pool on roads and in low-lying areas.

Washouts are also possible near rivers, creeks and culverts.
