LNG Canada marks 50th cargo shipment from Kitimat facility

LNG Canada has announced that it has achieved a major milestone in its early years of operation, celebrating the safe departure of its 50th liquefied natural gas shipment from its export facility in Kitimat.

The departure of the shipment took place from the marine terminal on the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation, which company officials said is a reminder of the partnerships that have been at the heart of the development and operation of the project.

In a statement, LNG Canada said that the achievement is a reflection to the hard work and dedication of employees, contractors, and partners who work in and around the facility every day.

“As we continue through early operations, our focus remains on operating safely, strengthening reliability, and caring for the environment and the communities we are part of,” the company said.

The Kitimat export facility is Canada’s first major LNG export terminal and has been closely followed both locally and across the country as Canada seeks to establish itself as a major player in the global energy market.

LNG Canada that it’s making good progress towards its goal of becoming a world-class asset and helping to position Canada as one of the world’s top five LNG exporting countries.
